Its only been up for a week, but already featured on UK super-producer Sparkii Skis Soundcloud page are random beats, demos, instrumentals of old MC Mello b-sides, and with even just one verse, what seems like a previously unreleased MC Mello track…
Sparkii Ski Feat MC Mello – Musty Aint Avin It
MC Mello – Talk Dem [Instrumental]
He has a co-produced alblum on the way with a group I know very little about too…
From as early as 1987 when the name Sparkie was listed on a Jus Badd release, then soon after on the Comin Correct EP and Blades Lyrical Maniac 12″s, I was always aware of the name Sparkii Ski. Im not gonna spout to knowin too much about Sparkii other than his beat-making ability, he’s part of the En4cers crew with Billy Biznizz and the rest, and he’s produced more MC Mello cuts than I care to recall. Seems he’s been plodding away at a few beats and has some ‘Heritage’ release due in 2012. Keep em peeled…
If that’s a word you can use about Gangsta Rap in the modern era, because for all the “freedom of speech” arguments of the past, it’s HARD to talk about it in a positive light nowadays.
But Fuck it, you have to..when it’s as dope as this.
Madlib loads some fire literally into the hole, and Freddy comes with it, in Gory Tek-nicolour..
“i love hiphop but.. its 2012 and we still promoting violence? then we wonder why the world is fucked.”
2Pac and Mc Ren would be very proud of Freddie Gibbs, as would Zro, for keeping this tradition of music alive in the skinny jeans era.respect to Freddie for showing us what the streets of Gary, Indiana look like forty years after the Jacksons made it famous. it ain’t pretty, but “nothing is as pretty as a pair of tiddies”- Drexl Spivey
“i’m revenge in the form of success to all haters”
For me, a strong centender for the best l.p of last year was “the marathon continues”, and this was the first song i heard off of it..now getting a very nice visual inspired by Nipsey’s trip to the far east, shouts dantheman. There’s multiple gems dropped in this song, all over some art of noise-inspired greatness. And those drums are hard as fuck.
“in the material world, the thought is contagious..”, that, is some rakim-type shit right there.

if you like your rap earnest, like hemingway..and you can do no better at the moment than Cleveland’s own god’s son. Lincoln Way Nights The Fralbum got the re-master treatment after his signing with the Bawse himself, Rick Ro$$, late summer, and is out there to get right now. He speaks for himself on lyrical content, the sample is from one my all time favourites,”tecalli” by the Counts, and although using someone else’s hook is Violating the no-biting code, i’ll consider it an homage…Enjoy.
As incongruous as it sounds, Rick’s ear for music is pretty much undersputed, and all the filtering Rashad uses throught the album not only gets more out of the samples, but gives the whole project a unique (in rap, anyway, as we know, House music BEEN using filters, but on samples?) feeling..and the money gets this clip looking classy. Moody as Fuck.
here’s the Break, too. You see what he did there…
not a life changer, but, still a nice lil’ sumthing for the headphones (grado, that is)..
absorb the beat, realise that it’s probly the best flip of the B.Whizzle drums (no lisa stansfield) youv’e heard, forget the first rap singer, and tune in when Mr “the Truth” comes in..all of the Mc’s come wildly differently, but all shine, including Wale, who’s never really impressed me too much (although, the line about loving his mother, and never getting married says a little too much, also, ELTON)
most improved goes to Young Khalifa Man, sounds like he may of even got his pad out for this..not just rhyming, well i might add, but using some nice inflection to sprinkle some more flavour over this niiice beat..one for the pad, or pod, or whatever.
If you don’t know about Schoolboy Q, shame on you, as his “Setbacks” Fralbum was one of the best in recent years..anyways, his new one is out in a week, so familiarise yourself, and you can say you were down…
The Two raspiest combinate to create a modern classic (to me).Trae and Jada are both legends at what they do, and this beat is a nice throwback..
Emskee is an MC I know very little about, all I know is he’s a good MC, and as ever here at the BALLS we’re ultra-magnetic when it comes to anything that involves Rap radio, so this was sure to catch our attention.
On this next double drop of DWG action, the Diggers With Gratitude label are unleashing 6 previously unavailable tracks on one EP and another 8 radio promos on a completely seperate piece of vinyl. If youve ever had a thing for ‘Hip-Hop on the radio’, station IDs or the minutia of Rap radio, get involved. There are 8 promo cuts that ‘were recorded between 1992-95 for various well known NYC radio DJ’s’ such as Flex, Doo Wop, Awesome2, T-Money and Dr Dre as well as a Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito 89.9 promo. Check out the snippets.
Diggers With Gratitude are good peoples, not just for the rare as hens teeth prized goodies they periodically let loose from the ‘back of that stack’, but they are a knowledgable bunch too. Get yer arse over to the forum for a community more than happy to share knowledge [and jokes] and gettin to the nitty-gritty of this Rap isht. Since 2004 theyve released previously unattainable music from artists like Main Source, Big Daddy Kane, Phill Most Chill and a shed-load of others. Peep the releases theyve already dropped.
They both went on sale this week, and the radio promos are limited to 175 copies [and theyre on blue vinyl], so get in where ye fit in…
